Annual Fire Hydrant Maintenance
All fire hydrants, municipal or privately owned MUST have an annual inspection as per the Ontario Fire Code. There are a lot of legislation, rules and bylaws encompassed with fire hydrant maintenance.
WaterSome is qualified, licensed, insured and experienced to check off all the criterias required by the Ontario Fire Code (sections 6.6.4.1 – 6.6.5.8), the Ontario Safe Drinking
Water Act (O. reg.128/04, 461/16, 169/03 and 170/03), and all municipal bylaws. Regardless of who may seek information on your fire hydrant(s), the answers will be in your yearly maintenance report.

Some of course are too old and parts are discontinued or sometimes the barrel is broken from being hit by a vehicle or by having been frozen. We can replace them and have them ready to go for you. If you need a new one installed, we can tee or tap one on the existing water main and have it ready to go in no time!

Simply put, we can paint them on site and give them a fresh look. If a more durable and better paint is desired, we can remove the hydrant body and send it out for a complete sandblasting and powder coating, and then reinstall.Flow testing of fire hydrants is usually frowned upon by the water utility due to the disruption of water flow, which is quickly followed by complaints of discoloured water to consumers.
